Software Development Intern

Fall. Remote. Part Time.

Qualifications

This is a great opportunity for graduate and upper-division undergraduate students who are interested in contributing to an early stage social good start-up.

We are looking for:

  • Desire to use your coding superpower for social good! An engagement with social and educational issues.

  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn. We will provide our vision, help with design, and guide you to our outcomes. However, we are not tech people, so we will be relying on you to tell us what is possible and to figure out how to execute the vision. You will be the technical expert on this project, so it’s a great opportunity to get experience in each aspect of the development process. You will be responsible for the entirety of code so experience developing your own project from start to finish is a big plus.

  • Communication. Living in the time of Covid-19 requires us all to step up our communication skills! We mainly communicate via email & slack and hold weekly or twice a week Google Hangout meetings to set priorities. We are always available to answer questions, troubleshoot, and brainstorm.

  • Technical Skills

    • Familiarity with Heroku and experience setting up and maintaining backend infrastructure

    • Experience programming in Javascript and familiarity with React, React Native and Vue libraries.

    • Experience with Go
